About us

About us

As the Inspired to Care project, we help social care providers to find and recruit everyone from the laundry staff through to care professionals who have the right values and commitment to our sector. We do this by promoting the rewards of a career in care, signposting potential care workers to information and guidance, and by providing social care employers with tailored recruitment and retention resources.

External Workforce Lead

Inspired to Care, Leicestershire County Council

I am a manager with 20 plus years experience in management. I also have 30 years' experience in children's social care and 5 in adult social care.

I am proud to say that I led a team of excellent childcare professionals who supported the childcare sector with (among other things) recruitment and retention issues. The childcare sector experiences workforce challenges not dissimilar to adults; low pay, low status and not recognised for their invaluable professional role in supporting and caring for children/adults.

While in adult social care, apart from a brief period of GDPR project management that we will gloss over, I supported the internal adult social care workforce. This was supporting them with recruitment, retention, career pathways and succession planning.

I recognise the pressures that you work under while delivering excellent care and my aim is to support you, hopefully relieve some of that pressure and celebrate the exceptional work you do.

Through collaboration and partnership working we can, together, raise the status of our workforce and be recognised for the professionals we are.

With that in mind if you need any support please get in touch.

David Preece

Social Care Recruitment and Retention Officer

Inspired to Care, Leicestershire County Council

I joined Inspired to Care in August 2021 and have worked in the Social Care Sector since 2010.

Within my role as a Social Care Recruitment and Retention Officer with Inspired To Care, I offer tailored 1:1 support with providers throughout Leicestershire to help with their workforce challenges. As part of this support we construct and deliver monthly topic conferences to support in a focused way to current challenges faced by many providers.

Part of my role is to celebrate care professionals and employer members with the use of social media and via our website. This is also to shine a positive light of the sector and increase diversity in our workforce which is a passion of mine.

In order to promote careers in care with the future workforce I regularly attend school events including career fairs and parents evenings to showcase career paths and the wide variety of roles available in social care.

If you need any help with recruitment or are interested in a career in care please get in touch!

Jenny Heap

Social Care Recruitment and Retention Officer

Inspired to Care, Leicestershire County Council

I began my career in social care as a care professional working for a domiciliary care company. Before coming to Inspire to Care in June 2022, I have worked in a variety of roles within the sector including a Field Care Supervisor, Care Co-Ordinator and a Recruiter and Trainer.

I am Passionate about adult social care and love to write and blogs and advocate for the sector.

I want to be able to attract more young people to follow careers within our industry and as the Future Workforce Lead for Inspired to Care, I enjoy going out to schools and colleges and sharing my own journey and experiences to students of all ages.

Everything I do in my role today, I do with those I supported at the start of my career, in my mind. By bringing in more people with the right values and shining a positive light on the adult social care sector, the quality of care being delivered will improve and by starting conversation about social care we can normalise and remove the stigma around the support that so many in our communities already rely on or that we ourselves, may need to rely on in the future.

If you would like careers advice or would like Inspired to Care to attend a careers or recruitment event you are organising, please get in touch!
