Overview

Company: Direct payment recipient. Ref TS680364 Location: Melton Mowbray Job Type: Part-Time Hourly Rate / Salary: £14.44ph for directly employed PA’s, or £18ph for self-employed PA’s. Working Hours: 5 hours weekly for 39 weeks per year (1 Hour per Morning). Then during school holidays 10 Hours Weekly for 13 weeks per year. There is potential for some additional hours during the school holidays.

The Role

An individual with severe learning disabilities and autism who lives in Melton Mowbray requires a PA.

Hours/days: 1 hour per day Mon to Fri between 7.15am and 8.15am start. Total of 5 hours per week, for 39 weeks of the year.

Then during school holidays 10 Hours Weekly for 13 weeks per year. (2 days of 5 hrs) Prefers Mon-Fri but can be very flexible with hours/days. *There is potential for some additional hours*

Morning routine. Personal care, shower and dressing, breakfast

Duties: Mon to Fri during term time to support client with morning routine getting ready for college, including personal care, and breakfast. During school holidays to support in the community, take part in social and leisure activities. Requires support with all aspects of daily living. Some personal care tasks such as pad changes, cutting up food, ensure sufficient fluid intake. Supporting decisions by using communication aids.

PA will have use of a Motability vehicle when supporting client.

Client likes/dislikes: football, likes going out in the park, to the funfair. People watching. Does not like fast moving things.

Client requires familiar people who can anticipate needs, structured routine to the week is key. Can demonstrate some challenging behaviours, usually non-compliance (refusing to get out of car for carers). It is felt these behaviours are with new people, but with consistency there appears to be no challenging behaviour.

Moving and handling: Wheelchair user.

The ideal person will be flexible, reliable, proactive and have relevant previous experience. This is a long-term part-time role.

An Enhanced Adult DBS is required for this role.
